Pomp, colour as Egesa FM turns 19

By KPC Reporter

Egesa FM, which is the oldest privately owned radio station that broadcasts in Ekegusii is 19 years old today.

Owned by the Royal Media Services (RMS), Egesa FM has a huge fan base in Gusii region, other parts of the country and the Diaspora.

On Sunday, the station crackled to life with pride and nostalgia—celebrating 19 vibrant years on air.

Presenters and fans joined thousands of joyful Christians at Our Lady of Mercy Kebirigo Parish in Kiabonyoru Ward, Borabu Constituency, where they shared cake and exciting messages.

Staff from the station included Nancy Omweri (Queen Diva), James Gichana (Omoiberania), and Lawrence Nyakundi.

Politicians Walter Chanua (aspiring governor, Nyamira County), Charles Keganda (Bosamaro Ward representative) and Beautah Omanga (former Bogichora Ward representative), among others attended.

Born from the static of possibility and nurtured by voices that dared to dream, Egesa FM station has grown from a humble transmitter into a cultural heartbeat.

It echoes across villages, towns, and the towering skyline of Nairobi.

The station entertains, educates, and informs many Kenyans using Ekegusii as its main language of communication.

Today, as it marks nearly two decades of connection, inspiration, and sound, the airwaves hum with gratitude.

It is a celebration of a journey powered by passion, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between voice and listener.

With a majority of its staff being members of Kisii Press Club, the editorial desk wishes Egesa FM all the best as it continues to serve our people.
