The High Court in Lodwar has sentenced ex-police officer Wilfred Kibichy Too to 45 years in prison for fatally shooting a bar owner in the year 2021
He shot Susan Nasiru Emure dead over a Sh550 debt.
Too, then attached to Kakong Police Post, had refused to pay for alcohol at Emure’s bar in Turkana South.
This lead to an altercation with the bar owner.
After being struck on the head by the bar owner, he retrieved his service firearm from his house and shot her three times.
Justice Reuben Nyakundi while sentencing the ex-officer said, “were it that in Kenya the death sentence was carried out, I would have sentenced him to death.”
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) investigated the case
The Authority recommended prosecution, and submitted evidence that led to the conviction.
