Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary Mr. Stephen Isaboke has urged marketing professionals to stay informed about emerging technological trends in order to debunk misleading information.
Speaking at the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) Chair’s Power Breakfast, Mr. Isaboke emphasized the importance of verifying facts in an era of rapid technological advancement to prevent the public from being misled.
“The line between truth and propaganda is very thin. AI uses structured data, which can sometimes be manipulated to spread misinformation,” he said.
“You have to understand how AI works to ensure your facts are accurate and your communication is effective.”
Mr. Isaboke also highlighted the critical role of marketing in leadership.
“Who tells stories about brands better than marketers?” he asked.
“These are core leadership competencies because leadership is about storytelling, sharing success, and persuading others to follow a particular path.”

He called on professionals to help promote positive narratives about the achievements of both the public and private sectors for the country’s advancement.
Among those in attendance were MSK Chairperson Ms. Zuhura Odhiambo, Vice Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Eng. Patrick Obath, and Founder and CEO of Re-Imagine Impact Associates Limited Ms. Sicily Kariuki.
WPP Scangroup CEO Ms. Patricia Ithau and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors also attended the event.
MSK is a professional body that brings together marketers from across the country to promote excellence in marketing practice and uphold high standards in the profession.
It serves as a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and capacity building through events, training programs, and industry recognition such as the annual MSK Awards.
The outfit advocates for the role of marketing in driving business growth and national development, while also working to shape policy and support ethical marketing practices in Kenya.
