State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications (SDBT) Principal Secretary (PS) Stephen Isaboke has indicated that enabling seamless data exchange is key for unlocking a progressive future for the East African Community (EAC).
Isaboke was speaking during the session ‘Unlocking EAC Cross Border Data Flows,’ on the sidelines of the Connected Africa Summit 2025.
“Data is the backbone of digital trade, innovation and market expansion across borders,” Isaboke said via his Facebook page.
“To achieve this, we must proactively engage leaders at the highest levels of governance to formulate policies that empower cross-border data flows.”
Isaboke added that his department was dedicated to championing cross-border data flows across the EAC to fuel economic progress and strengthen regional unity.
Seamless data exchange is crucial for the region as it fosters greater regional integration by enabling efficient cross-border trade, healthcare, and public services.
It empowers governments and businesses with real-time insights, enhancing decision-making, transparency, and innovation.
By breaking down data silos, the EAC can accelerate inclusive economic growth, digital transformation, and a more connected, prosperous future for its citizens.
