Attorney General Dorcas Oduor has called on Kenyans to turn to prayer during these turbulent times, as mass protests continue across the country.

Speaking at a public forum in Nairobi, Oduor appealed to citizens to pray for both the nation and its leaders, that they may govern with justice, wisdom, and compassion.

“Let’s pray for our nation. Let’s pray for our leaders so that they may be guided by God to serve the people with justice and integrity,” she said.

Her remarks come amid nationwide demonstrations, largely youth-led, demanding transparency, government accountability, and sweeping economic reforms.

Protesters have taken to the streets in towns and cities across Kenya, decrying high taxation, inflation, corruption, and surging unemployment.

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo also issued a heartfelt appeal for peace and national reflection amid the escalating unrest.

“We must call ourselves to order. No more killings. No more people on the streets,” she said passionately.

Muranga Governor, Irungu Kangata.

In a related development, Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has publicly condemned the use of excessive force by police officers against demonstrators.

After visiting injured protestors in hospital, Kang’ata criticized security forces for their handling of what he described as peaceful protests.

“What we are seeing is unacceptable. The police must exercise restraint and uphold the rights of every Kenyan,” said Kang’ata.

“Beating, tear-gassing, or shooting peaceful protesters is not the way to solve problems.”

The governor further pledged to cover medical expenses and mortuary fees for victims identified during the recent Saba Saba protests.

“We are aware that a number of families are facing not only grief but also financial strain due to hospital and mortuary fees,” he said.

“As the County Government of Murang’a, we shall settle the bills for those identified victims who were either injured or lost their lives during the Saba Saba protests.”
