Heaven has called you home today,
Leaving so much I still wanted to say.
But now it’s too late—your time has come,
And words unsaid weigh down everyone.
You taught me more than I can show,
Revealed so much I didn’t know.
But you forgot the final thing—
To teach me how to let you go.
There may be regrets, some wishes too,
But what will last are thoughts of you.
I was there when you had no place to stay,
Just like you’d stand by me, come night or day.
Angels above and stars that gleam,
Why must death unravel every dream?
Your pain is gone—you now rest in peace,
Yet my love for you will never cease.
You meant the world, that much is true—
No one could take the place of you.
And now I see what people mean
When they say, “He only takes the best away.”
