Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke, has underscored the importance of embracing technology to enhance government communication.
Speaking during a meeting with officials from the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, the PS noted that digital tools are reshaping how the Government interacts with the public and emphasized the need to build the capacity of communication officers.
“Technology is changing how Government engages with citizens. This shift demands that our communication officers are retooled and retrained to effectively convey Government programmes and opportunities,” said Mr Isaboke.
Faith Nkatha Gitonga Ngokonyo, the Interim Country Director and Head of Tech and Digital Transformation Africa Advisory at the Institute, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting governments around the world.
“TBI advises governments on strategy, policy and delivery. We will collaborate with the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications to strengthen communication through technology in line with our focus on effective governance,” she said.

The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is a not for profit organisation that works with governments to integrate technology into strategy and delivery.
As part of the initiative, the National Communication Centre under the State Department will adopt a digital first approach to strategic government communication.
This approach is expected to create a reliable single source of truth, enabling the public to access accurate and up to date information on government programmes and services.
