A police officer was hospitalised after a dramatic shooting incident at Jogoo Road Police Station in Nairobi on Thursday evening.
According to a police report filed under OB 45/4/9/2025, Corporal Daniel Lokidongoi, who was reportedly intoxicated, stormed the station and began threatening fellow officers.
Lokidongoi allegedly entered the office of the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), where she was seated with Constable Winnie Kioko.
He cocked his AK-47 rifle, while questioning why the OCS had been looking for him.
The OCS tried to calm him down as he turned the weapon on himself, threatening suicide.
She then called for reinforcement, prompting Corporal Chuchu and Constable Cliff Nyanumba to rush in to help disarm him.
In the scuffle, Lokidongoi allegedly opened fire, shooting Constable Nyanumba in the left palm.
The bullet also grazed the back of his head.
The injured officer was rushed to Komarock Modern Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
The suspect was eventually overpowered, disarmed, and placed in custody.
His rifle was taken as an exhibit.
A spent cartridge was recovered at the scene, which was processed by Buruburu Scenes of Crime personnel.
Buruburu DCI officers launched investigations into the incident.
