Kenyans will gain free access to all national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in celebration of the United Nations World Tourism Day.

The announcement was made by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, who said the initiative is aimed at giving Kenyans an opportunity to reconnect with nature and appreciate the country’s rich biodiversity.

“This year’s theme, ‘Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,’ reminds us of the power of tourism to drive positive change for communities, conservation, and the economy,” Miano said in a statement.

She explained that the free entry will apply to all Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)-managed sites across the country.

“To honor this significant occasion, I am thrilled to announce that the Government of Kenya is offering free entry to all Kenyan citizens to visit Kenya Wildlife Service-managed national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries on Saturday, September 27th, 2025,” she said.

According to Miano, the initiative is not only about recreation but also about fostering conservation.

“By opening the gates to these iconic spaces, we aim to foster a greater appreciation of Kenya’s rich biodiversity and inspire a shared responsibility to protect it for generations to come,” she noted.

She urged Kenyans to take advantage of the offer to experience the country’s natural beauty firsthand.

“We invite all Kenyans to explore, learn, and celebrate the wonders of our parks, reserves, and sanctuaries, which are not just Kenya’s pride but the world’s heritage,” Miano added.

KWS has provided guidelines for entry on its official website and social media platforms.

Citizens can also call the toll-free number 0800597000 or contact the KWS WhatsApp customer line at 0726610509 for inquiries.

“Let’s come together as a nation to celebrate the 2025 UN World Tourism Day and reaffirm our commitment to sustainable tourism and conservation,” the Cabinet Secretary said.
