The contractor in charge of the new Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) headquarters in Kisumu, Kenya, has officially turned over the completed building to the Commission’s management.
This signifies the successful conclusion of Phase Two of the project.
Construction of the second phase commenced on August 7, 2023, after formal handover of the site to a new contractor.
The building was formally delivered to LVBC Executive Secretary Dr. Masinde Bwire by the Principal Secretary at the State Department for Public Works in Kenya’s Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development.

An inauguration ceremony is expected in the near future, with senior leaders from the East African Community (EAC) anticipated to attend.
The second phase was built under supervision of the State Department for Public Works.
Its cost was USD 2,560,717.68.
In November 2024, the EAC Council of Ministers approved an additional USD 802,126 to support the remaining works, bringing the total approved funding to USD 3,540,000.
The third and final phase of construction is expected to begin soon.
