Nairobi is set to host more than 400 delegates from across East Africa as the East African Civil Society Organisations’ Forum (EACSOF) convenes the East African Civil Society Summit 2025 from September 29 to October 1, 2025.
The three-day gathering, themed “Harnessing Citizens’ Potential in Regional Integration”, will bring together representatives from all eight East African Community (EAC) Partner States, development partners, academia, and regional institutions.
“This Summit is a turning point for civil society across East Africa,” said the EACSOF General Secretary in a statement.
“It is about citizens reclaiming their place in shaping integration, governance, and accountability within the EAC.”
Day One of the Summit will spotlight digital transformation, featuring discussions on artificial intelligence, inclusive governance, and the role of civil society in driving accountability.
Day Two will turn to social inclusion, cross-border cooperation, and resilience, with sessions on women’s leadership, adolescent participation in policy, and natural resource management.
The final day will celebrate regional unity through cultural exchanges and reflections from delegates.
A key highlight will be the presentation of a Summit Communiqué, capturing recommendations on issues such as trade justice, peace and security, youth empowerment, gender equality, and climate action.
The communiqué will be presented ahead of a keynote speech by Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Musalia Mudavadi.
The Summit will also coincide with the 15th Annual General Meeting of EACSOF, during which members will adopt the 2025–2026 work plan and elect a new Governing Council.
Elections will strictly adhere to the EACSOF Constitution, with only members in good standing allowed to vote, according to the statement sent to us.
