The Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) has announced the appointment of Linda Bach as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Bach’s appointment marks a significant leadership transition in one of the country’s most influential media organizations.

Bach will officially assume office on October 16, 2025, succeeding Rosalia Omungo, who has served as CEO for the past eight years.

In a formal statement dated September 29, 2025, the Guild expressed confidence in Bach’s leadership, citing her extensive experience and dedication to media professionalism.

“Linda brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the media landscape. We are confident that she will steer the Guild to greater heights,” said Zubeidah Kananu, President of KEG.

Bach’s appointment necessitates her resignation from her current role as a Council Member on the Guild’s Executive Committee.

To fill the vacancy, the Guild has appointed Andy Kaga, a seasoned journalist and editor, to the Council.

Kaga’s inclusion is expected to strengthen the Guild’s strategic direction, especially in digital transformation and editorial independence.

The Guild also paid tribute to outgoing CEO Rosalia Omungo, whose tenure was marked by advocacy for media freedom, capacity building, and institutional growth.

“Rosalia has been a pillar of strength and vision. Her legacy will continue to inspire our work,” Kananu noted.

Omungo, in her farewell remarks, said, “It has been a privilege to serve the Guild. I am proud of what we’ve achieved together, and I have full faith in Linda’s ability to lead the next chapter.”

The leadership change comes at a time when Kenyan media faces growing challenges, including digital disruption, press freedom concerns, and evolving audience expectations.
