The Chairman of the Mailwa Group Ranch, Mr Daniel Kironua, has urged residents to maintain peace and mutual respect as tensions escalate over land disputes in the area.
Speaking during a community meeting in Mailwa, Kajiado County, Mr Kironua appealed to members to conduct themselves with dignity and to resolve differences amicably.
“First, respect yourself, your neighbour, and your leaders,” he said.
“If you wish to purchase land, follow the proper procedure — identify the rightful member and then approach the land committee for assistance.”
He further cautioned residents against unfairly criticising their leaders, stressing the importance of unity and collaboration rather than hostility.
“Let’s stop insulting our leaders — the governor, senator, MCA, or MP,” he added.
“Bring your concerns to us so that we can find solutions together. Let’s promote peace and work in harmony.”
Local resident Mr Gideon Oliampoko echoed the chairman’s remarks, saying the community was united in rejecting dishonest individuals who exploit others under the guise of leadership.
“We have agreed that we do not want thieves or liars using the name of Mailwa leadership to deceive people,” Mr Oliampoko stated.
Another resident, Ms Nasianta Saitua from Mailitisa, appealed to locals to refrain from hurling insults at their leaders and instead maintain respect and decorum when addressing issues.
“We do not want anyone abusing our chief, MCA, or MP. Let’s live peacefully and support one another,” she said.
