When a Giant Rests, the Nation Trembles

Former Prime Minister (PM) Raila Odinga whose death has stunned Kenyans.

On the screen stands a man who defined resilience, who bled for Kenya’s democracy and gave his life to the people.

May his legacy remind every leader that true power lies in service, not in position.

We are crying, mourning and celebrating the life of a man who became known as Baba of an entire nation.

He was adored by many and inspired countless others to join politics.

Baba was our national father.

On the Kenyan stage, he was a bulldozer who made things happen.

These words echo: “Exits the dragon, enters the tiger.” Who will be the tiger?

Rest well, Baba.

Your fight for democracy lifted Kenya far above her neighbours, and we shall never forget.

We enjoy the freedom of speech in Kenya today because you spoke up.

The second liberation of this country would not have been realised without your efforts.

Devolution was once a distant dream until you showed us it could be achieved.

A statesman has rested, forever in our hearts.

Baba Raila Odinga is not gone; he lives in every voice that refuses oppression, in every street that still chants his name.

His struggle shaped a generation, and his courage rewrote Kenya’s story.

Legends do not die; they become the heartbeat of a nation.

For the ODM orphans, those who kept their lamps full of oil are ready, they have positioned themselves.

Those who relied on Baba to lift them will sink.

Rest well, Woud Mary.
