A tragic aircraft accident occurred early Tuesday morning in Kwale County, when a plane en route from Diani to Kichwa Tembo crashed.

The aircraft, registered as 5Y-CCA, was carrying 12 people at the time of the incident.

It was not immediately clear if there were survivors.

According to a press release issued by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), government agencies are already on site to assess the cause and impact of the crash.

The statement, signed by Director General Emile Arao, confirmed that emergency response teams are coordinating efforts at the scene.

Images from the crash site show the wreckage engulfed in flames, with debris scattered across a forested area.

A large wheel and twisted metal fragments are visible among the smouldering remains, underscoring the severity of the impact.

The letters “MC” appear on one piece of wreckage, though the aircraft’s full markings remain unclear.

The accident comes amid heavy rainfall warnings issued by the Kenya Meteorological Department, which may have affected visibility and flight conditions in the region.

KCAA urged the public to await further updates as investigations continue.

This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available from the scene and official sources.
