The inaugural Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) Sports activities came to an exciting close on Saturday evening at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, Nairobi, after two action-packed days celebrating teamwork, wellness, and camaraderie among parliamentary staff.
The interdepartmental event brought together employees from both the National Assembly and the Senate, who competed across a wide range of sporting disciplines aimed at promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and staff cohesion within Parliament.
Participants were divided into four teams—Red, Black, White, and Gold—each representing different departments and offices within the Parliamentary Service.
The contests featured athletics, swimming, volleyball, basketball, netball, football, and tug of war, alongside indoor games such as badminton, table tennis, chess, pool, scrabble, and darts.
After an impressive display of sporting prowess and teamwork, Team Black emerged overall champions, bagging the highest number of gold medals across multiple events.
The team brought together officers from the Office of the Clerk of the Senate, Security and Safety, Finance and Accounting, Engineering and Maintenance, and the Parliamentary Budget Office, as well as Legislative and Procedural Services staff from both Houses.

The Clerk of the Senate, Jeremiah Nyegenye, served as team leader.
Team Red took second place as the first runners-up, comprising staff from the Office of the Clerk, Sergeant-at-Arms, Legal Services, Human Capital and Administrative Services, and Parliamentary Research Services.
The team was captained by Samuel Njoroge, Clerk of the National Assembly.
In third place was Team White, made up of officers from the PSC Secretariat, Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), Hansard and Audio Services, Catering and Hospitality, and Litigation and Compliance units. They were named second runners-up.

Meanwhile, Team Gold was recognised for exemplary discipline and teamwork, taking home the Most Disciplined Team Award.
The group featured members from the Speakers’ Offices, Committee Services, Library and ICT, Parliamentary Broadcasting Unit, Internal Audit, and Liaison, led by Clement Nyandiere, Director-General of Parliamentary Joint Services.
The PSC Sports Day underscored the Commission’s commitment to promoting wellness, teamwork, and a healthy work-life balance among parliamentary staff—a tradition expected to grow even stronger in the coming years.
