The departed nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Denar Joseph Hamisi, whose death was announced on Saturday, made indelible imprints in the private and public sectors before he entered the political space.
A statement from House Speaker Moses Wetang’ula shows that Hamisi leaves behind a legacy of strength, institutional impact, and unwavering service.
Born in 1969 in Kinango, Kwale County, his journey was marked by a rare blend of humility and excellence.
Before his nomination to the National Assembly in 2022 under the Amani National Congress (ANC), Hamisi held key leadership roles.
He served as Director at the Coast Development Authority, Kenya Airports Authority, and Kenya National Accreditation Services.
He was also a Commissioner at the Electoral Commission of Kenya and a Council Member at both the University of Nairobi and Moi University.
His work shaped infrastructure, governance, and education policy across decades.
Educated at Mombasa Baptist High School, Hamisi later earned degrees in Tourism Management and International Business from United States International University (USIU), and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi (UoN).
In Parliament, he served on the Sports & Culture and National Cohesion & Equal Opportunities Committees, where colleagues admired his calm resolve and principled voice.
“He will be fondly remembered for humility and steadfast commitment to service to the nation,” said Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
