National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has called on Kenyans to embrace peace, love and unity as the country marks the Christmas season, saying the festivities offer an important moment for reflection amid social and political challenges.
In his Christmas message on Thursday, the Speaker urged citizens to rise above divisions and recommit themselves to values that promote harmony and national cohesion.
“This is a time for quiet reflection,” Mr Wetang’ula said after a Christmas mass at Holy Trinity
Webuye Catholic Church.
“True light does not announce itself; it simply shines. Christmas reminds us to be humble, to love one another and to live in peace.”
He noted that Christmas is traditionally a season of gratitude and togetherness, and encouraged Kenyans to use the occasion to strengthen family bonds and community ties.
“In choosing humility, love finds meaning. In embracing silence, the soul discovers peace,” he said, adding that the season should inspire hope for a better and more united country in the New Year.

The Speaker also appealed for responsibility and caution during the festive period, particularly in public spaces, as many Kenyans travel and gather for celebrations.
“Let us be our brother’s and sister’s keepers,” he said.
“As we come together as families and as one nation, we must look out for one another and act responsibly.”

Mr. Wetang’ula wished Kenyans a peaceful Christmas and expressed hope that the New Year would bring renewed optimism, unity and shared purpose.
“May this sacred season renew our commitment to love, peace and coexistence as one people,” he said.
