Shaped by years of close service to former opposition leader Raila Odinga, Maurice Ogeta has been appointed Advisor on Security Affairs in the Mombasa County Government.

Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir announced the appointment following the establishment of new positions by the Mombasa County Public Service Board, in line with the law.

He said Ogeta’s selection was informed by a career built across local, regional and global platforms, giving him deep institutional insight and a steady hand in matters of security and governance.

“This appointment is informed by Mr. Ogeta’s many years of experience and deep institutional knowledge,” the Governor said.

He noted that Ogeta’s service under Raila Odinga helped shape his understanding of leadership, public service and national security coordination.

Often described as a quiet strategist, Ogeta brings with him lessons drawn from high-level political engagement and public administration, experience the Governor believes will strengthen safety, stability and investor confidence in the coastal county.

In the same announcement, Governor Nassir also appointed Ken Ambani as Advisor on Creative Arts, positioning the creative sector as a key driver of youth employment and economic growth.

“His wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience in the sector will be instrumental as we work to revive and grow the creative industry in Mombasa,” the Governor said.

Ogeta is a seasoned public servant whose career has been shaped by years of experience in security management and institutional leadership.

Known for his calm demeanor and deep understanding of public safety systems, Ogeta has worked across government structures where trust, discretion, and coordination are essential.

Those who have worked with him describe him as measured, strategic, and quietly effective.

On the other hand, Ambani is a communication professional with a strong grounding in public affairs, media relations, and strategic messaging within government settings.

He has built a reputation for translating complex policy decisions into clear, relatable narratives that resonate with the public.
