The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) has appointed Mr Wycliffe Nyakina as its new Chairperson.
This marks a significant leadership transition for the statutory body responsible for administering and regulating professional examinations for human resource practitioners in Kenya.
KPC understands that Mr Nyakina’s appointment is pursuant to the Human Resource Management Professionals (HRMP) Act No. 52 of 2012.
He brings to the position more than 20 years of experience across the banking sector, civil society, the National Police Service Commission and human resource consultancy.
His standing within the HR profession includes recognition as a Fellow of the Institute of Human Resource Management, one of the highest professional honours accorded to HR practitioners in Kenya.
Prior to his elevation as Chairperson, Mr Nyakina served on the Board, where he chaired the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
He also sat on the Examinations and Quality Assurance Committee, and previously served on the Human Resource, Finance and Strategy Committee.
Before joining the Board, he served the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) as Head of Compliance, Quality Assurance, Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement.
Mr Nyakina is a graduate of Kenyatta University, where he studied Human Resource Management.
He holds multiple professional qualifications, including a Diploma in Human Resource Management from Cambridge International College, a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management, a Diploma in Banking, and the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation.
He also serves as an examiner with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), further underscoring his long-standing engagement in academic standards and professional credentialing.

As he assumes leadership of HRMPEB, Mr Nyakina is expected to deepen reforms within the examinations ecosystem at a time when the HR profession continues to undergo heightened professionalisation and regulatory scrutiny.
HRMPEB is a state corporation mandated to prepare syllabi for human resource management professional examinations; make rules governing examinations; issue certificates to successful candidates; and promote recognition of its examinations locally and internationally.
The Board is further responsible for conducting assessments, setting examination fees, managing disciplinary processes for registered students, and ensuring alignment of HR examination standards.
Mr Nyakina succeeds CS Sharon Kisire, who served at the helm of HRMPEB for six years and is credited with establishing governance frameworks that accelerated the Board’s institutional growth.
“I am honoured by this appointment and ready to lead the Board to greater heights. I intend to inject new strategies to strengthen the delivery of our core mandate,” said Mr Nyakina.
