The much-anticipated Nairobi County Cricket Association (NCCA) T20 League is officially underway this weekend, promising thrilling action for cricket fans across the city.

Matches will be held at multiple venues in Nairobi, with teams sharpening their skills after a long break following the 50-Overs League.

In the Super Division, nine teams are battling for the trophy this season, with defending T20 champions Swamibapa A taking on Sikh Union A at Jamhuri High School on Sunday.

Kanbis A, three-time former champions, host Sir Ali A at their Eastleigh home ground, a venue where they are notoriously strong.

Other matches feature Nairobi Gymkhana A vs SCLPS A and Stray Lions A vs Ngara SC A at Peponi.

“This is going to be an action-packed season. Teams have had time to prep and we’re excited to see how the new squad dynamics play out after the transfer window,” said NCCA Honorary Secretary Narendra “NK” Patel.

The league has also seen major player movements ahead of the season.

Vraj Patel left Swamibapa A for Ngara SC, while Swamibapa signed veteran Shem Ngoche from Kenya Kongonis.

Other notable transfers include Tanzeel Sheikh moving from Stray Lions to Kanbis SC and Kavi Dosaja joining Sikh Union.

Defending champions Swamibapa A aim to clinch their sixth T20 title in ten years, while Kanbis A looks to reclaim glory.

Teams like Stray Lions A hope to bounce back from a disappointing 50-Overs season, relying on overseas professionals to strengthen their side.

Sikh Union A, meanwhile, is banking on the talents of young players like new signing Kavi Dosaja to challenge the defending champions.
