Three outstanding professionals in Kisii County were on Wednesday recognised for their transformative leadership and exceptional service to the community, in awards presented by Arise Circle.
The non-monetary honours were bestowed on Mobamba High School Principal Dr George Ogoji, Wakenya Pamoja SACCO Chief Executive Officer Dr Isaac Omwenga, and Citizen TV journalist Chrispin Otieno, during separate ceremonies held across the county.
Presenting the awards, Arise Circle Chief Executive Officer Dr Edna Kangwana said the initiative seeks to celebrate leaders whose work goes beyond titles to create lasting, positive impact in their communities.
At Mobamba High School in Masaba South, Dr Ogoji was honoured for his visionary, people-centred leadership that has transformed both the institution and its surrounding community.
According to the agency, academic performance at the school has steadily improved under his stewardship, alongside strengthened discipline, enhanced teacher motivation, and the introduction of mentorship and guidance programmes.
“His inclusive management style has fostered a supportive learning environment and positioned the school as a centre of excellence in the region,” Dr Kangwana said.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr Ogoji dedicated the recognition to the wider school community.
“This recognition is not just about me. It belongs to our teachers who work tirelessly, our students who continue to believe in themselves, and the parents and community who support our vision for quality education,” he said.

Citizen TV reporter Chrispin Otieno was recognised for professional, ethical and courageous journalism that amplifies issues affecting local communities.
The agency praised his human-interest and development-focused reporting for promoting transparency, good governance and public accountability in Kisii County.
Dr Omwenga, the Wakenya Pamoja SACCO executive, was honoured for innovative leadership that has expanded financial access and strengthened cooperative governance.
His reforms have improved service delivery, diversified financial products and boosted member confidence, enabling traders, farmers and entrepreneurs to access affordable credit and grow their livelihoods.
Dr Kangwana said the awards underscore the power of integrity-driven leadership.
“Leadership is not about position, but about impact. These individuals have shown how transformative leadership can drive sustainable development,” she said.
