President William Samoei Ruto has nominated Mr. Francis Meja for appointment as Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC), marking a significant step in the leadership of Kenya’s public service sector.
Mr. Meja, who currently serves as a Member of the Commission following his appointment in January 2025, brings a wealth of experience from both public and private sectors.
His nomination was formally announced through a press release issued by the Executive Office of the President.
A seasoned public servant, Mr. Meja is best known for his tenure as the founding Director-General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), where he played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s road safety and transport regulation framework.
His leadership portfolio also includes serving as Registrar of Motor Vehicles in the Ministry of Transport and as a Council Member of Murang’a University of Technology.
Beyond his public sector credentials, Mr. Meja boasts over 15 years of experience in banking and financial services, having held management roles at Equity Bank Kenya PLC and the Housing Finance Company of Kenya (HFCK).
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.
In line with constitutional requirements, President Ruto has transmitted the nomination to the National Assembly for vetting and approval by Parliament.
