The Jubilee Party has appointed Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta as its new Secretary General, in a move the party says is aimed at strengthening its structures and sharpening its readiness for the next General Election.
In a statement released on Thursday, the party said its National Executive Committee, under the leadership of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, had approved Kenta’s appointment.
The statement cited his legal background, public service record and experience in elective politics.
“The Jubilee Party National Executive Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta as the Party Secretary General,” the statement read.
Kenta is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi.
He was first elected to Parliament in 2013 on a TNA ticket and served two consecutive terms before contesting the Narok gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Election.
Beyond politics, he has held senior positions in key public institutions, including serving as chairman of Kenya Wine Agencies Limited and as a director at the Geothermal Development Company.
The party noted that he is “widely respected for his principled leadership, firm stance against corruption and consistent advocacy for the protection of the Mau Forest ecosystem.”
According to Jubilee, Kenta takes over the position at a critical moment as the party seeks to consolidate its base and expand its footprint nationally.
“He brings to the party a wealth of experience in elective politics, legal expertise, strategic management and institutional governance,” the statement said.
The office of Secretary General has in recent years been held by Jeremiah Kioni, who has been a key figure in steering the party through internal reorganisation and post-2022 realignments.
Last year, the Party endorsed former Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i as second in command after Kenyatta.
Dr Matiang’i was also marked as the possible flag bearer of the Party’s presidential ticket in 2027.
Jubilee called on its members and supporters to rally behind the new Secretary General.
“The party calls upon all members, supporters, partners and Kenyans of goodwill to accord him full cooperation and support as he undertakes this important and demanding responsibility,” the statement added.
