Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), through its premium whisky brand Johnnie Walker, has committed KES 68 million towards the 2026 Magical Kenya Open, reinforcing a long-standing partnership with one of Africa’s most prestigious golf tournaments.
The sponsorship comprises KES 12 million in direct cash support and KES 56 million in strategic in-kind contribution aimed at enhancing the overall tournament experience for players, fans and partners. Under the agreement, Johnnie Walker will serve as the Official Alcohol Beverage Partner of the event, which is part of the DP World Tour calendar.
The 57th edition of the Magical Kenya Open is scheduled for 19 to 22 February 2026 at the par-72 Karen Country Club in Nairobi.
The tournament is expected to feature 144 professional golfers competing for a prize purse of USD 2.7 million (about KES 348.3 million).

Announcing the sponsorship at Karen Country Club, KBL General Manager for Spirits Alvin Mbugua said the partnership reflects the company’s enduring commitment to world-class sport in Kenya.
“Our support for the Magical Kenya Open through Johnnie Walker is part of a long-standing commitment to the game of golf in Kenya and beyond,” said Mbugua.
“Golf, much like the Johnnie Walker brand, is built on values of progress, discipline and excellence, which makes this partnership a natural fit.”
He added that the sponsorship would go beyond branding to enhance hospitality, entertainment and overall event delivery.
“This is about ensuring a memorable, well-run tournament that showcases Kenya to the world,” he said.
The funding will support Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL) in event logistics and operations, including premium hospitality at the Tournament Village.
KOGL chairman Patrick Obath welcomed the continued backing, describing it as critical to the success of the tournament.
“This long-standing partnership has played a key role in enabling us to consistently deliver an event that meets international standards,” Obath said.
He noted that preparations for the 2026 edition were already underway, adding that the tournament is expected to attract thousands of fans and international media, further positioning Kenya as a leading destination for elite sporting events.
Beyond the Magical Kenya Open, Johnnie Walker continues to support golf development through initiatives such as the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing and the PGK Equator Tour, underlining its long-term commitment to the sport through its Keep Walking philosophy.
