Kenya and Italy have tightened their bilateral relations, particularly in the education sector, with the launch of new initiatives aimed at advancing a shared vision for sustainable development.

On Monday morning, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, together with his Italian counterpart, Ms. Anna Maria Bernini, launched the Kenya–Italy Higher Education, Science and Research Roadshow at Strathmore University in Nairobi.

The event also saw the inauguration of the Enel Foundation and the Res4Africa Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme.

The initiatives underscore the strong and growing partnership between the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Italy in promoting collaboration across priority areas of mutual research interest.

These include agritech, energy, water management, satellite and cyber technologies, as well as entrepreneurship.

The programmes are designed to strengthen institutional linkages, promote knowledge exchange, and build skills aligned with current and future development needs.

By investing in higher education, science, research, and technical skills training, the initiatives are expected to play a critical role in addressing key gaps in Kenya’s development agenda through the capacitation of the requisite human capital.

The Government of Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to fostering strategic international partnerships that enhance education outcomes, drive innovation, and support inclusive and sustainable development.
