Gor Mahia’s resurgent January earned double honours as Paul Ochuoga and Charles Akonnor claimed SportPesa League Player and Coach of the Month awards.
The record champions won five of six matches, opening a four‑point lead over AFC Leopards, who still have a game in hand.
Ochuoga, 21, was instrumental down the right flank, registering five goal involvements — a goal and three assists — the best attacking contribution of the month.
“This award means a lot to me because it reflects the work we put in as a team,” said Ochuoga, dedicating the recognition to his coaches, teammates, and fans.
He received a KES 50,000 cash prize and a customized trophy courtesy of SportPesa.
AFC Leopards defender Kaycie Odhiambo finished runner‑up after helping his side keep three clean sheets and scoring a match‑winner against Sofapaka.

Akonnor, nicknamed “CK,” claimed the award for the second time, having also won in October 2025.
He turned around a difficult December — just one win in five matches — to lead Gor Mahia to an 83% win rate in January, scoring 15 goals, conceding only four, and keeping three clean sheets.
“January was demanding, but the players responded well to our ideas,” Akonnor said. “We are building something, and this is further testament that the work the technical team is doing is taking shape.”
He received a KES 75,000 prize and a customized trophy. AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani was runner‑up after guiding his side to an 80% win rate.
The awards are determined through detailed match data compiled by Tisini.
“Paul Ochuoga and Charles Akonnor stood out not just in results, but in measurable impact across key performance indicators,” said Havighurst Calsberg, Tisini Head of Football Operations.
SportPesa reaffirmed its commitment to Kenyan football, with Partnerships Manager Japheth Akulia noting: “These awards are about celebrating impact, consistency, and professionalism. By backing a transparent, data‑led process, we aim to motivate players and coaches while deepening fan engagement with the league.”
