Ruiru Sports Club will next week host one of its biggest annual fixtures as Lady Captain Rodah Mukami concludes her two-year tenure.
The week-long Lady Captain’s Prize tournament is expected to attract more than 300 golfers.
The main event will be played on February 28 on the club’s 18-hole course, capping a packed programme of competitive golf, social events, and community initiatives celebrating Mukami’s leadership and contribution to the growth of ladies’ golf at the club.
Activities tee off on February 23 with a Caddies and Staff Golf Day, recognising the role played by support staff, followed by a Senior Golf Day and Mini Clubnite on February 24.
On February 25, the focus will shift to community impact with a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative held alongside a Greensomes tournament.
The build-up continues with the Lady Captain’s Prize curtain-raiser on February 26, before a Koroga-themed Chip and Putt event on February 27 adds a social and family-friendly touch to the celebrations.
“This tournament is not just about my exit; it is about the incredible journey we have walked together as a club,” Mukami said ahead of the event.
“Over the past two years, we have seen our ladies grow in confidence and competitiveness, and our juniors step up with remarkable promise.”

The tournament week will conclude on March 1 with a Juniors Mug Tournament, highlighting the club’s growing investment in youth development.
During Mukami’s tenure, Ruiru Sports Club has hosted several high-profile national events, including the KLGU Ladies 54-Hole Tournament and the inaugural Golfer of the Year event organised by the Kenya Ladies Golf Union.
In September, the club also staged the prestigious Pendant Tournament for the first time.
Beyond hosting tournaments, the club has expanded opportunities for women and junior golfers, with two female players now featuring in the elite team and several juniors progressing towards single-handicap status.
The Lady Captain’s Prize has attracted strong corporate support, led by Family Bank, alongside several other sponsors, reflecting growing commercial confidence in the club’s flagship event.
