Betting firm Betika has committed KES 3.2 million in sponsorship to five of Kenya’s top golfers ahead of the 2026 Magical Kenya Open.
The sponsored lineup features elite amateurs Michael Karanga and John Lejirma, alongside seasoned professionals CJ Wangai, Samuel Njoroge, and Justus Madoya.
The quintet will represent Kenya at the DP World Tour event, which tees off from February 19 to 22, 2026, at Karen Country Club.
The Magical Kenya Open remains one of Africa’s premier golf showcases and a key stop on the DP World Tour calendar.
Betika’s KES 3.2 million package will cater for tournament preparations, endorsements, and logistical support, ensuring the players compete at optimal level against a strong international field.
This marks the third straight year the firm has sponsored Kenyan players at the event.
Betika Group CEO Mutua Mutava said the investment reflects the company’s commitment to nurturing local talent.
“By focusing our support on these five outstanding athletes, we are offering targeted assistance to golfers who have shown consistency and excellence throughout the season,” he said.
“Kenyan golf has immense potential, and we are proud to back our players as they take on the world’s best on home soil.”

The team heads into the tournament buoyed by an exceptional 2025 season. Lejirma arrives as the reigning KAGC Series champion after a dominant campaign that included nine victories, while Karanga made history as the first amateur to qualify for the 2025 MKO and secured multiple major amateur titles.
Among the professionals, Njoroge impressed with a breakthrough win at the PGK Equator Tour in Diani, Wangai recently set a course record on the Sunshine Development Tour, and Madoya posted strong performances across the East African circuit, including a top finish in Rwanda.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsored players, Karanga said the backing has removed financial pressure.
“Our aim is not just to participate, but to compete at the highest level. With this support, we can fully focus on our game,” he noted, expressing confidence that a Kenyan golfer will mount a serious title challenge.
The 2026 Magical Kenya Open is expected to draw more than 25,000 spectators and a full field of 144 players from over 30 countries.
Kenya will field the largest contingent with 18 players, while South Africa follows with 17 led by defending champion Jacques Kruyswijk.
