Leaders of the Jubilee Party have intensified calls for unity and grassroots mobilization ahead of the next General Election.
They also declared support for former Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i as the party’s presidential candidate next year.
The declaration in Kisii on Friday came ahead of a tour by opposition luminaries in the region beginning Monday.
Speaking during the official opening of the Party office in Kisii Town, Ole Kenta said they were consolidating support following the party’s merger with Party of National Unity (PNU).
“We have come to officially open the Jubilee office here in Kisii. I want to inform you that PNU joined us and agreed that Dr. Fred Matiang’i will be the presidential flag bearer,” said Ole Kenta.
He described Dr Matiang’i as a focused and competent leader, citing his previous performance in key government dockets, including Interior and Coordination of National Government, Education, and ICT.
“Kenya says Matiang’i because he is disciplined, hardworking and confident. He demonstrated his leadership while serving in the security sector, education and ICT. Our politics is not about conflict but about building our country and supporting our women and children,” he added.
Ole Kenta also raised concern over the discontinuation of some social protection programmes, including the Linda Mama initiative, which previously provided free maternity services, and health insurance support for children.
“There was a project called Linda Mama where mothers did not struggle to access maternity services, but it was stopped. Insurance cover for our children was also halted,” he said, urging youth and women to take an active role in shaping the party’s future.
He assured supporters that a Jubilee-led government under Matiang’i would prioritize accountability and recover public resources lost through corruption.
“Matiang’i is a leader who will ensure that stolen public resources are recovered,” he stated.

Jubilee National Chairman Vincent Kemosi affirmed that the party will conduct free and fair nominations for all elective positions, from Member of County Assembly (MCA) to Governor.
“Anyone who wants to vie for any seat in the upcoming election is welcome. All positions, from MCA to Governor, will be open, and we shall conduct free and fair nominations. Let us remain respectful and support Dr. Fred Matiang’i,” said Kemosi.
Deputy Secretary General Zack Kinuthia reiterated that the party, under the leadership of former President Uhuru Mwigai Kenyatta, has officially endorsed Matiang’i as its presidential contestant.
“The Jubilee Party, led by Uhuru Mwigai Kenyatta, has issued Dr. Fred Matiang’i with the presidential ticket and certificate to run for the position of Kenya’s sixth President. There will be unity and transparency in the nomination process for all aspirants,” said Kinuthia.
The leaders urged residents of Kisii County to rally behind the party and participate actively in its structures, emphasizing inclusivity for youth and women as the country heads towards the next electoral cycle.
For three days beginning Monday, Dr Matiang’i will host other opposition figures including Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Martha Karua and George Natembeya in his home tuff, Gusii.
They will traverse the two counties of Nyamira and Kisii.
