Media personality and Geothermal Development Company (GDC) staffer Pauline Sheghu is revving up once again for the world-famous Safari Rally.

The competition is set to take place from 12–15 March 2026 in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

Sheghu, alongside her navigator Linet Ayuko of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), will compete under their new banner Queen of the Dust.

The duo was officially flagged off by Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, in the company of Principal Secretary Alex Wachira and chief executives from across the energy sector.

They will represent the industry at the 2026 WRC Safari Rally — one of the toughest and most prestigious rounds of the World Rally Championship calendar.

For Sheghu, this marks her fourth appearance in the grueling Safari Rally, underscoring her growing experience and determination in a sport long dominated by men.

Driving a Subaru GVB, the Queen of the Dust crew heads into this year’s edition with renewed confidence and strong institutional backing.

The energy family has collectively mobilized KSh 8.8 million towards Sheghu’s campaign, while beverage giants Kevian Kenya Limited and Farmers’ Choice contributed KSh 1 million and KSh 100,000 respectively, bringing the total sponsorship to KSh 9.85 million.

The sponsorship highlights KPC’s commitment to empowering talent within its workforce while supporting global sporting events hosted in Kenya.

Notably, four rally stages are located along KPC’s Right of Way (ROW) in Naivasha, underscoring the company’s strategic footprint across key economic corridors and its role in enabling national development.

As part of supporting the rally ecosystem, Morendat Training and Conference Centre, Naivasha, will provide accommodation to Kenyans during the event, enhancing local participation and boosting tourism in the region.

The Queen of the Dust crew also announced that their doors remain open for additional financial support as they prepare to compete in this year’s African Rally Championship in Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.

Through this collective effort, Kenya’s energy sector and corporate partners are not only backing a dynamic women’s rally team but also reinforcing the country’s position as a hub for international motorsport.
