Isaboke Represents Kenya at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke is representing Kenya at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona.

The global event has brought together leaders and technology innovators to explore the future of digital ecosystems, including Agentic Artificial Intelligence and 6G-ready infrastructure.

During the engagements, the PS toured technology exhibitions and inspected the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), a next-generation railway communications platform designed to replace legacy systems with 5G-enabled capabilities.

The system enables real-time communication between trains and railway control centres, enhancing operational safety, reliability and efficiency across modern rail networks.

Isaboke noted that the adoption of advanced communication technologies will strengthen the safety, reliability and efficiency of transport systems while supporting the development of integrated digital logistics corridors.

Kenya’s participation in the Congress aligns with the government’s Digital Superhighway pillar, which seeks to expand connectivity infrastructure, digital services and innovation ecosystems to accelerate the country’s transition to a knowledge-based digital economy.

The delegation included officials from the Communications Authority of Kenya led by Board Chair Charles Karondo, and Adam Lane, Deputy CEO for Government Affairs at Huawei Kenya.
