A family in Bituka Village, Kitutu Chache South Constituency, is demanding justice following the brutal killing of their kin on Tuesday.
The deceased, Kevin Mose, 25, was reportedly killed under unclear circumstances, leaving family members and residents in shock.
His body has since been moved to the mortuary at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH).
According to his uncle, Yobesh Janai, the young man had no criminal record and survived on casual jobs within the area.
“Kevin was a humble young man who depended on small casual jobs to survive. He had no criminal record, and we do not understand why someone would take his life in such a brutal manner,” Janai said.
Janai also raised concern over what he described as rising insecurity in the area, saying residents are increasingly living in fear following a string of killings.
“Insecurity has become rampant here. People are being killed senselessly, and we are now living in fear. We are calling on the authorities to investigate this matter and ensure those responsible are arrested and brought to justice,” he added.
The incident comes just weeks after another shocking murder in the area in which a businesswoman from Daraja Mbili Market was killed at Kiamwasi Village while on her way home.
Residents say the repeated incidents have heightened anxiety among locals, with many now calling for increased security patrols and swift action from law enforcement agencies.
“We are appealing to the government to improve security in this area because the situation is becoming unbearable,” a resident said.
