Nairobi will be the stage this Sunday for LeadHERship Africa, a high-level women’s dialogue and dinner marking International Women’s Day.
The event, hosted by Global Peace Ambassador H.E. Dr. Prudence Mocumi, seeks to confront the barriers that continue to hold women back while celebrating the progress already achieved and envisioning a future of empowered leadership.
For many women across Africa, challenges remain stubbornly familiar: limited access to capital, underrepresentation in decision-making, and fragile mentorship pipelines.
UN Women, as the Secretariat of the Commission on the Status of Women, has long documented these realities while shaping global standards for equality.
The Nairobi dialogue aims to bridge those global priorities with local realities, ensuring African women are not only included but are leading transformation.
“Dialogue must go beyond conversation. It must serve as a catalyst for coordinated action, translating individual efforts into meaningful impact,” Dr Mocumi said in a statement sent to KPC.
Special guest speakers Dr. Amy Kyalo and Dr. Florence Wambugu will bring international experience to the table, demonstrating how women can drive transformation in business, science, and community development.
So far, women entrepreneurs are reshaping markets, policymakers are influencing governance, and mentorship initiatives are nurturing the next generation of leaders.
“We must advance a vision of empowered, ethical, and enduring leadership for Africa and the world,” Dr Mocumi said.
The dialogue will focus on building collaborative ecosystems, unlocking partnerships, and strengthening leadership pipelines for youth and emerging women leaders.
