Kenyan rally drivers Ishmael Azeli and Issa Amwari are set to take on the world’s best at the 2026 WRC Safari Rally Championship, which kicks off today in Naivasha and runs through March 15.

The duo will compete in the WRC2 and Africa Rally Championship categories, representing Kenya on home soil in one of the most gruelling motorsport events globally.

Their campaign has received a major boost from Kenya Breweries Limited’s White Cap brand, which is sponsoring their preparations and participation.

The support is part of White Cap’s KES 45 million investment in this year’s rally, reaffirming its role as the Official Responsible Drinking Partner of the WRC Safari Rally.

Beyond the track, Azeli and Amwari will collaborate with White Cap to promote responsible drinking and rally culture.

Fans can expect behind-the-scenes content showcasing training sessions, vehicle prep, and route reconnaissance—offering a rare glimpse into the demanding world of rally racing.

Azeli, navigated by John Ngugi, will debut a Subaru WRX NR4, upgrading from last year’s Mitsubishi Evo 9.

“We’ve been working hard to prepare the new car for Naivasha’s tough terrain. White Cap’s support means everything—it allows us to focus on performance,” he said.

Amwari, driving a Ĺ koda Fabia R5 with navigator Dennis Mwenda, echoed the sentiment.

“The Safari Rally is unforgiving. Conditions change fast, and preparation is key. White Cap’s backing gives us the confidence to compete and represent Kenya proudly,” he noted.

The Safari Rally, famed for its punishing mix of rocky tracks, deep sand, and unpredictable weather, is the ultimate test of endurance and skill.

For Kenyan fans, all eyes will be on Azeli and Amwari as they aim for strong finishes against a stacked international field.

At the front of the Rally1 category, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT leads with Sébastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans, and Oliver Solberg.

Hyundai counters with Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi, while M-Sport Ford fields Irish talents Joshua McErlean and Jon Armstrong.

Rediet Yigezu, KBL’s Senior Brand Manager, said the partnership reflects White Cap’s commitment to local motorsport.

“Supporting Azeli and Amwari is about more than sponsorship—it’s about nurturing Kenyan talent and celebrating the spirit of adventure that defines the Safari Rally,” the manager said.
