Senator Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga is representing Kenya at the 70th Session on the Status of Women (CSW70), underscoring the country’s commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s leadership.
The event is being held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, as previously reported by the KPC
During a Gambia–Türkiye joint side event, Senator Okenyuri participated in discussions on promoting inclusiveness, fostering mentorship, and addressing harmful practices, including those emerging through technology in OIC member states.
The session emphasized strategic cross-sectoral interventions, inter-state collaboration, and systemic empowerment frameworks to ensure that women not only occupy positions of influence but actively contribute to reshaping societal, technological, and institutional landscapes for a more equitable future.
“Women must not only lead but be fully engaged in remoulding the systems that affect our communities,” Senator Okenyuri said in a post on her social media account following the event.
Prior to the UN engagements, she visited friends in New Jersey, reflecting on shared values of service and collective responsibility and the continuing impact of the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation.
The visit highlighted the foundation’s ability to inspire Kenyans in the diaspora and reinforce community initiatives that transcend geographical boundaries.
The Kisii Press Club, which has consistently covered local leaders’ contributions to national and international discourse, noted that Senator Okenyuri’s participation at CSW70 complements other recent engagements, including local mentorship programs and gender advocacy efforts.
