Ruiru Sports Club is gearing up for a major golfing weekend as more than 300 players are expected to converge for the Chairman’s Prize Golf Tournament on March 21, 2026.

The flagship event marks one year in office for club chairman Jessy Ndegwa and is set to deliver a vibrant mix of competition, camaraderie and celebration.

“This tournament is not just a celebration of my one year in office, but a reflection of the growth and unity we have built as a club,” said Ndegwa.

“We are delighted to host over 300 golfers and partners who continue to support our vision of making Ruiru a premier golfing destination.”

The week-long festivities began earlier with a caddies and staff tournament, followed by Mini Club Night and a Pro-Am event, building momentum toward Saturday’s main competition.

Golfers are expected to tee off as early as 6:30 a.m., with organisers promising a competitive and entertaining day on the course.

“The course is in pristine condition. Our greens are well maintained, the fairways are lush, and we are ready to offer golfers a true test of skill,” said club captain Justus Mathenge.

“We expect a highly competitive field and an enjoyable tournament for players of all levels.”

The tournament will culminate on Sunday with a junior golf event aimed at nurturing young talent, underscoring the club’s commitment to developing the sport.

The event has also drawn strong corporate backing, with sponsors including KCB Bank as the main partner, alongside several other corporate players.

The Club continues to grow its reputation as a premier golfing hub, hosting notable events such as the KCB Golf Tour, the Pendant Tournament and the Lady Captain’s Prize.

The Chairman’s Prize will further cement the club’s status as a leading destination for major golf competitions.
