Principal Secretary State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke has called for stronger alumni involvement in schools, saying sustained engagement is key to improving education standards and mentoring future leaders.

Speaking during a visit to his former school, Sameta High School, Isaboke urged former students to actively support institutions that shaped their academic and professional journeys.

“Education is not just a pathway to employment, but a foundation for leadership, innovation and service,” he told students, teachers and local leaders gathered at the school.

The PS was received by Deputy County Commissioner Angela Wanyama, alongside local administrators, school leadership and members of the community.

Drawing from his own background, Isaboke emphasized discipline, consistency and purpose as critical drivers of success, encouraging students to remain focused on their goals.

He also challenged alumni to take responsibility for the growth of their former schools through mentorship, investment and partnerships, noting that government efforts alone are insufficient to address existing challenges in the education sector.

“Those who have benefited from institutions like this must come back and contribute to their development,” he said.

Isaboke pledged personal support towards the development of the school and said plans are underway to mobilize fellow alumni and partners to improve infrastructure and strengthen academic programmes.

He added that a follow-up visit involving key stakeholders, including Eliud Bitok, will explore structured interventions to boost performance and expand mentorship initiatives.
