AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani and Posta Rangers forward Jackson Macharia have been named the SportPesa League Coach and Player of the Month for March, respectively, after standout performances in a fiercely contested period.
Ambani’s leadership revived AFC Leopards title push, earning him his second monthly accolade this season.
Meanwhile, Macharia’s crucial goals helped Posta Rangers snap an 11-match winless streak.
March proved turbulent for Leopards. A commanding 5-1 win over Shabana FC was followed by a shock 4-1 defeat to Mathare United, leaving them 10 points behind leaders Gor Mahia.
However, Ambani steadied the ship, guiding his side to three straight wins to reignite their title ambitions.
“March was an important month for us because the team showed character and belief in every match,” said Ambani.
“Our focus now is to maintain this momentum and keep pushing towards our goals.”
The KSh 75,000 award and trophy mark Ambani’s second win this season, having also claimed the December 2025 honor.
He joins Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor as a double winner this campaign.
Macharia, meanwhile, denied Leopards a clean sweep of the awards, edging Tyson Otieno after an impressive run of four goals in four matches.
His tally included a strike in a 1-1 draw against Gor Mahia and a decisive brace in a 2-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks.
“I’m grateful for this award and thankful to my teammates and coaches,” said Macharia.
“Football is a team sport, and every goal comes from our collective effort.”
SportPesa Head of Partnerships and Sponsorships Japheth Akhulia praised the winners, noting the league’s rising competitiveness.
The monthly awards are based on detailed performance data compiled by Tisini, ensuring a transparent and merit-based selection process.
