The government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kenya’s media and creative industry during the pre-launch of TV47 and the unveiling of Cape Media’s new content ecosystem.

Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary Stephen Isaboke, who was the chief guest at Nairobi’s Argyle Grand Hotel said the media sector remains a key driver of economic growth, cultural expression, and job creation, particularly for young people.

“Platforms like TV47 are not merely broadcasters; they are incubators of talent, catalysts of innovation, and bridges connecting Kenyan voices to global audiences,” he said.

Isaboke noted that ongoing government efforts aim to create an enabling environment where regulation supports innovation and growth within the sector.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMEs) Principal Secretary Susan Mangeni said the creative economy presents significant opportunities for entrepreneurship and youth empowerment.

She emphasized the need to strengthen linkages between media, small enterprises, and content creators to expand livelihoods.

Cape Media Chief Executive Officer Mwenda Njoka said the company’s new content ecosystem is designed to position Kenya as a leader in digital storytelling by integrating television and online platforms.

Cape Studios Growth and Strategy Consultant Farida Karoney called on young creatives to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the new platform.

“Young people, we have the best equipment in Africa, we are waiting for you. Our dear young creators, this is your stage,” she said.

Stakeholders said the initiative marks a shift toward multi-platform content production, combining traditional broadcasting with digital and on-demand services.

The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and creatives, who expressed optimism about the sector’s role in driving innovation and economic transformation.
