The cleric was murdered on the night of Sunday, May 3, 2026, in what detectives now believe was the work of a long‑profiled criminal gang.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced major progress in the probe into the killing of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari of PCEA Tabuga Church, Nakuru North Sub-County.
According to the statement, investigators have “firmly linked the incident to a notorious criminal gang first profiled in July 2022,” known for violent robberies while disguised in security forces attire.
The DCI revealed that a firearm used in the attacks, an L1A1 rifle, was recovered by police in 2024.
The same gang is suspected to have carried out a violent robbery on May 1, 2026, during which Sh600,000 was transferred from a victim’s bank account to mobile numbers associated with the group.
Detectives are also probing “a pattern of violent attacks and robberies within Nakuru County and its environs.”
The DCI emphasized that forensic and intelligence‑driven investigations are ongoing, noting that “advanced forensic examinations, including scientific analysis aimed at placing the suspects at the crime scene, are still ongoing to build a robust case for prosecution.”
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to justice, urging calm and cooperation
“We urge members of the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and continue cooperating with investigators by providing any relevant information.”
