The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has announced major changes in the ranks of Regional and County Commissioners aimed at enhancing efficiency and strengthening service delivery across the country.
In a statement, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said the reshuffle was designed to align officers’ strengths and experience with emerging administrative and security priorities.
Among the Regional Commissioners, Rhoda Nyaboke Onyancha moves from the Coast to Nairobi, while Paul Rotich shifts from Eastern to Coast.
Samson Macharia Irungu and Flora Nkatha Mworoorah have been transferred from Western and Nyanza respectively to the Office of the President headquarters.
In promotions, Jacob O. Muganda takes charge of the Eastern region, Onesmus Musyoki Kyatha heads to Nyanza, and Allan Machari assumes duties in Western.
Officers Joshua Muriungi Nkanatha, John Odhiambo Otieno, and Dr. Abdi Mohammed Hassan, have been retained in their respective regions—Central, North Eastern, and Rift Valley.
The changes also affect County Commissioners, with Joseph Kibet Boen moving from Kiambu to Kilifi, Stephen Kutwa Sangolo from Baringo to Lamu, and Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru from Kericho to Tana River.
Others include John Kiprotich Cheruiyot (Samburu to Meru), Mwachaunga Mohamed (Kisii to Machakos), and Shufaa Omar Mwijuma (Nyamira to Kirinyaga).
Several officers have been deployed from sub-county positions to new county assignments, including Jackson Ngelai Olechuta to Garissa and George Matundura to Kiambu.
The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the changes take effect immediately, noting that the adjustments are part of ongoing efforts to improve coordination and responsiveness in national government administration.
