Shabana FC will unveil its full technical bench later this week as preparations for the new Football Kenya Federation Premier League season gather momentum.
Speaking during a live interview on Sporty FM on Wednesday, Shabana FC Secretary General Dr Elizaphan Kerama said the club had finalised plans to announce its complete technical team following a series of changes within the coaching set-up.
Dr Kerama said the club appointed Andrew Ongwae as head coach to replace Bernard Mwalala, who departed for Bandari FC after receiving a better offer.
He clarified that former assistant coach Peter Okidi was not dismissed, noting that the club and the coach mutually agreed to part ways due to off-the-pitch challenges that required an amicable resolution.
Dr Kerama further explained that Osborn Monday was engaged on a short-term contract to work alongside Ongwae because he was readily available and familiar with the team’s structure and operations.
He said Monday later left after the expiry of his contract to join another club in Nairobi.
On player transfers, Dr Kerama assured supporters that the core of the squad would remain intact, revealing that about 90 per cent of the current team has been retained.
He dismissed speculation linking key players with moves away from the club, insisting that Brian Michira, Kevin Omundi and Dizzo remain Shabana FC players.
Dr Kerama added that the club has assembled a balanced squad capable of competing at the highest level and challenging for honours, despite calls from some supporters for the team to recruit only local players.
He said Shabana FC remains focused on building a competitive side capable of delivering success in the upcoming season.
